I'm a rising senior at Warren High School, CA. I'm ambitious of becoming
a female software engineer in such a male-dominated field.
Growing up, I never knew what job I wanted to have. I always fumbled
around to explore my interets. Computer science never collided with me until
my sister encouraged me to sign up for GWC (Girls Who Code.) I immediately got drawn to coding through the process of creating my projects. I was mesmerized.
I'm currently taking the AP Comp Sci class at my school to further pursue computer science. I look forward to master this language and
speak it to the world with my creativity.
I've done sideline/ competitive cheerleading since sophomore year. I'm a varsity captain. Cheer is the only sport that allows me to combine athleticism and aesthetic. You can catch me tumbling and stunting not only at football and basketball games, but at wrestling and baseball games too. My favorite things about cheerleading would be football season and competition season. They are so much fun!! Fun fact, our team competes in the CIF cheer division.
Us link crew/cheer leaders stunting at the Freshman Orientation!
Link Crew is an organization at our school that's designed to aid future/present freshmen. I've been a link leader since junior year. We host 8th grade visits, freshman orientations, tutoring sessions, classroom visits, and other exclusive fun activities for the freshman class untill the moment right before they turn sophomores. I love being a mentorship and a big sister for them because they remind me of my clueless 9th grade self; I wished that I had a great link leader.
Although having those extracurricular was a bit too much on top of all honors and AP classes that I was taking (junior year was the most stressful year), I managed to maintain a 4.26 average GPA and passing my AP exams with 4's & a 5.
I got into this volunteer opportunity in Dec 2019 because again, I was fumbling to explore my career interest. Spending at least three hours here each week, I loved the feeling of helping other people (nurses and patients.) I volunteered on the 7th floor and I assisted nurses with front desk reception, chart organizing, medical device transportation, and even observing procedures done on patients. I had a good time here because it was the first time I got exposed to a real-world working environment. I look forward to continue this position after COVID-19.
Me on a fire truck at the Sound the Alarm Event while volunteering (2017, freshman year)
I started volunteering at my local American Red Cross in 9th grade. I attended to monthly meetings and volunteered monthly. I helped to install fire alarms in the homes that didn't have them and educate local redisents on fire safety. I also packaged donated school supplies for the children in need. Unfortunately I couldn't keep up with this activity in 10th grade because of the responsibilities of a sport and academics.
